The company has some of the strongest survey responses in this category among insurers in our rankings, and is second only to USAA in this subcategory. American Family also performs well in our survey for ease of contacting customer service, and has the lowest percentage of consumers who express dissatisfaction with the customer service they receive.

American Family ranked higher for claims handling than any other insurer in our analysis, and a higher percentage of consumers were satisfied with the ease of filing a claim, status updates during the claims process, and how the claim was resolved. Expresses About 87 percent of survey respondents said they were satisfied with how their claim was handled overall, while only 3 percent said they were dissatisfied.
American Family Customer Loyalty.
With a customer loyalty score of 4.4 out of a possible 5.0, American Family ranks first in this subcategory for 2023 ahead of USAA. Nearly 90% of survey respondents said they were either likely or very likely to renew their policy with American Family, while just over 3% of American Family consumers said they were unlikely to renew. or very little.
How Much Is American Family Car Insurance?
Our study found a national average rate of $1,383 per year for drivers with American families. While that’s lower than the overall national average rate of $1,547, USAA, Geico, State Farm, and Travelers all came out cheaper on average. Depending on your age, driving record, and other factors, American Family may be cheaper than one or more of these companies. Our study found that Allstate was the most expensive on average, with an annual sample rate of $2,135.
How Much Does American Family Car Insurance Cost?
US family car insurance costs an average of $1,547 per year for full coverage insurance. That’s less than $600 a year from the average national annual rate of $2,148. American Family’s average annual rate is cheaper than other major insurers except State Farm and USAA, which only sell policies to active-duty and veteran military members and their families.
