Mahmood Khan, Chief Minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, has issued instructions for the rapid completion of all necessary paperwork for the launch of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences.
This is the first institution of its kind in the province, and its swift establishment is seen as vital in light of the growing demand for veterinary education in the region. Khan emphasized that the new university will not only foster innovative research in this field, but also serve as a foundation for the long-term development of key industries.
During a progress review meeting on the start of classes at the university, Khan directed those involved to bring relevant laws and regulations up to date with current needs, and stated that the proposed act for the university is under review and will be finalized and submitted for approval as soon as possible.
The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences will offer training and research in 20 different departments across three faculties. The faculty of BioSciences will consist of seven departments, including Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Fisheries, Wildlife, Biochemistry, and Biotechnology. The Faculty of Veterinary Science will encompass nine departments, such as Pathology, Microbiology, Medicine, Surgery, and Pet Sciences.
The Faculty of Animal Production and Technology will include five departments, such as Animal Nutrition, Livestock Management, Poultry Sciences, Breeding and Genetics, and the Department of Meat and Dairy Technology.
