The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Prisons is a progressive department that aims to ensure the return of the criminal to society as a useful citizens. The gradual change of prison administration has led to a healthier and healthier environment in prisons, in line with the correctional philosophy and rehabilitation approach toward prison inmates.
Today, the department places great emphasis not only on the moral education of prisoners but also on a comprehensive approach to facilitate the reintegration of prisoners into mainstream society after their release.
The department firmly believes in “hate crime but not criminals.” It also acknowledges the fact that the concept of a safe society cannot be achieved by mere confinement unless the offender is rehabilitated and rehabilitated while in captivity. The department has taken several steps for this purpose.
